Dryer Cleaning Methods
What is the cleaning process?
Cleaning dryer vents from the outside of the home is unfortunately a common method promoted by “professional” air duct cleaners. Because 70% of the dryers we service have a significant build-up of dust, human hair, pet hair, and lint built up within the machine itself, the external method is NOT our method of choice. We agree with the Underwriters Laboratory assessment that the “interior of the dryer and venting system should be cleaned”, not just the vent.
Items to be cleaned should include:
Because operating temperatures are hottest inside of the dryer,we recommend cleaning not only the vent system and outside exhaust outlet but also the transition hose, the cabinet, and the dryer’s interior components. This requires opening up the machine to gain proper access to these areas.
The entire vent that leads to the exterior of the home
The outside exhaust outlet/hood
Transition hose or pipe
Booster blower (if applicable)
The lint trap housing
Interior cabinet duct
Cabinet & other components
The floor beneath the dryer. and
The wall behind
